In 2018 Pacific Coast Producers acquired Oregon Cherry Growers. The acquisition added two production facilities: one in Salem and another in The Dalles. These facilities preserve and prepare fruit (predominantly cherries and blueberries) for freezing; to be used as ingredients in other products like ice-cream and baked goods and to be made into maraschino cherries.

Salem Plant

In 2018 Pacific Coast Producers acquired Oregon Cherry Growers. The acquisition added two production facilities: one in Salem and another in The Dalles. The Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors and flavors.

Yakima, WA

The Yakima Plant is located in Washington and is our primary plant for Canned Cherries, Plums, Apples, and Northwest Pears.

Woodland Tomato Plant

In 2001, Pacific Coast Producers (PCP) purchased what is now the Woodland Tomato Operation. The plant had formerly belonged to Contadina, and had been purchased by Del Monte Foods. At the time Del Monte sold the operation to PCP, it was a small tomato paste operation. Between July 2001 and the July 2002 processing season, PCP completely reworked the plant to take it from a small paste operation to one of the largest retail tomato canning operations in the world. The plant produces some 250 SKUs of retail and foodservice tomato products, from whole tomatoes to diced, sliced, crushed and stewed, to sauces and paste. PCP has since added more lines and products to the mix, including our new taco simmering sauce and salad ready tomato products. The Woodland plant has focused on sustainability by reducing water use, and recycling byproducts from the operation such as peels, seeds and stems. This facility is currently focusing on reducing greenhouse gases and energy efficiency, to continue our path toward a sustainable future.

Distribution Center

Pacific Coast Producers’ retail and foodservice operations were originally located at two separate locations. Retail labeling and distribution was housed at the Lodi Plant, which is currently the peach canning plant. The foodservice location was an old winery PCP rented also located in Lodi.
The company was growing and needed a combined location to handle retail and foodservice operations, so they decided to build the first building of the Lodi Distribution Center. The new warehouse opened in June of 2000 and was one million square feet. All of the labeling lines and unlabeled product was moved to the new DC; half of the warehouse was dedicated to retail and the other half to foodservice.
In 2012, PCP decided to add a 500,000 square foot warehouse on to the DC that would be dedicated exclusively to foodservice operations. Construction was completed close to the beginning of new pack; everyone worked long hours to make sure the new foodservice location was equipped and ready for the approaching season.
The Lodi Distribution Center is now a combined total of 1.5 million square feet. The DC currently has around 4 to 5,000 active customer labels and performs roughly 3,000 label changeovers each week. Each day, approximately 100 trucks go in and out of the DC for customer order pickups.

Oroville Plant

The Oroville canning location was first established as Hearst Canning in early 1900’s. Then it became Sunny Cal until Stokely Van Camp purchased the operation.

PCP initially purchased the Oroville facility from Stokely in 1971, and has made numerous improvements to the facility.  PCP’s growers include many residents and farms in Butte, Sutter and Yuba Counties, where the majority of PCP’s peach production originates.  Currently, the plant employs 169 workers year round full time, and a seasonal work force of 1,243 – primarily unionized employees. Products include pears, peaches, fruit cocktails, and 4oz plastic bowls.

The Oroville facility operates ten canning lines which seasonally (July – September) produce over six million cases of containers with net weights ranging from eight ounce to 108 ounces in size cans.  In addition, the Oroville facility operators three high-speed plastic bowl lines produce millions of cases per year.

Lodi Plant

In 1971 the newly formed Pacific Coast Producers purchased the Lodi plant along with facilities in Santa Cruz and Oroville from Stokely Van Camp. Pacific Coast Producers processed spinach, apricots, peaches and tomatoes in the Lodi plant from 1971 through the mid eighties when spinach production was discontinued. In 1984 PCP closed its San Jose tomato facility and moved most of the production capacity to Lodi, doubling the output of tomato products. Tomato production grew over the years to the point where the Lodi facility could no longer fit all the required equipment. In 2002 all tomato processing was relocated to PCP’s newly purchased plant in Woodland California. Apricot and peach processing has expanded since that time to the point where the Lodi plant is now the largest apricot canner in the United States. Over the years the entire plant structures have been reconstructed leaving just the outer remnants of the original Foster and Woods plant as a reminder of our more than hundred year heritage. The Lodi Plant continues to focus on apricot and peach production with many “state of the art” and progressive processing systems to produce the highest quality finished product and exceed all safety, environmental and sustainability standards.
